Thrash metal God and frontman of Megadeth Dave Mustaine has revealed that their new album will be called 13. In a pre-show interview backstage at the Sonisphere festival in Knebworth, UK, Mustaine said of the new record, “I started playing guitar at 13 and this is our 13th record and I was born on the 13th. As soon as I said I was going to call it 13, I started noticing 13 everywhere.” The CD was recorded at Mustaine’s own California studio, Vic’s Garage, and produced by Johnny K, who’s worked with Machine Head, Disturbed and many other bands. Artist John Lorenzi, who designed the group’s last two releases, United Abominations and Endgame, as well as their Warchest boxed set, will be doing the artwork once again.
This is also the first record since founding member David Ellefson’s return to the band and the first with this line up consisting of Drover, Broderick, Ellefson and Mustaine.
Lemmy’s longtime bass technician – former Motörhead guitarist Michael “Würzel” Burston died yesterday (Saturday, July 9). The cause of death was not revealed. Würzel was 61 years old. Before joining Motörhead in 1984, Burston had been a corporal in the Army, serving in Germany and Ireland with the 1st Battalion of the Gloucestershire Regiment, and had played in the bands Bastard and Warfare. Joining another relatively unknown guitarist, Phil Campbell, they played together at a Motörhead audition, and both were taken on. He left Motorhead in 1995. R.I.P.

Polish blackened death metal legends Behemoth are back in full force and ready to take the stage again! For the first time since Nergal’s hospital visit back in 2010, the band is rehearsing together again for the upcoming Phoenix Rising Tour, taking place in October.
Frontman Nergal comments: “Sooo, first rehearsals after the transplant are under our belts! I didn’t want to get overexcited at first, just wanted to see how things would go, but I have to tell you… the second rehearsal we fuckin’ nailed “Ov Fire And The Void”, “Lucifer”, “Conquer All” or “Antichristian Phenomenon” flawlessly! One of us even asked: “Did we really take a year off from each other?”
Haha… it was good times in great company! But the biggest surprise were the songs we NEVER played live ever and planning to do on the upcoming “Phoenix Rising Tour”. I won’t reveal any names yet, let it be a mystery til we hit the stage, all right?”
This piece of news has just arrived from the Vedic metallers.
“Our dear friend and bandmate, Devan (guitars) has decided to quit the
band due to personal reasons. His contribution to the sound of Rudra
cannot be understated as he has been part of Rudra since 2008 and the
last two albums bear testimony to the fact that he was a great
songwriter. His commitment, sacrifices and work ethics are things that
we will never forget and shall remain as pleasant memories.
Nevertheless everyone of us and our Management wish him and his family
well and the best.
In spite of the turn of events, RUDRA will continue on as always! The
Brahmavidya Tour 2011/2012 will go on as planned”
We wish Rudra and Devan good luck with their future endeavours.
Our sincere condolences to Jonathan Joshua Fernandes, the drummer from Reverrse Polarity. He passed away after a fatal fall from a building in outer Delhi where he was supposedly partying at a friend’s birthday.
The media, however, very typically, put out an exaggerated version of what actually happened, and labelled Jonathan as “heavily drunk”. For a taste of true sensationalism, read this.
Jonathan was, without doubt, a very talented drummer in the scene. You will be missed.
Mumbai’s “funny band” Workshop has just called it quits. It was only recently that Riju Dasgupta, bass player, announced that he would be quitting the band to concentrate on his other project Albatross. And just as the note released says, Riju, along with Sahil and Hamza, were the main guys in the band, and without that equation, it didn’t seem right anymore.
Here’s the complete note they released via their Facebook page:
“After almost 4 years as a band, releasing 1 album, playing tons of shows and filling the internet with video blogs and other madness, we who are Workshop have decided to call it quits. This was a very hard decision for us to make and we have long pondered over it. Workshop has been a part of all our lives and we will forever cherish our moments together as a band and the support we’ve received over the years from friends, family, fans and any other catagory of people we may have excluded.Workshop in essence was Sahil, Riju and Hamza. It just doesn’t feel the same anymore and it would be wrong to continue the project without us being 100% into it, it wouldn’t be fair to us or the fans. So we feel that it is time to call it quits. We were in the process of writing and recording our 2nd album and while we don’t know what to do with the music but we are goign to complete the recording process and then take a call if we should release it or not. But for now the band Workshop is now over. So we put down our yellow hard hats and undress ourselves out of the jump suits or ‘broiler’ suiits as Demonstealer once called them and we hang them up high. We loved every minute of this awesome journey and we received so much love and support and even braved the critisim we often faced about ruining metal/music by adding humor to it, but given the chance we’d do it all over again. Workshop was an extension of who we are as people and when people are not there anymore it cannot be Workshop. We’re rambling now, but that is mainly because it is always painful to say goodbye. So stay funny, stay fantastic and we’ll see you on the dark side of the spoon.Signing off, Workshop”
And also check out this very creative farewell message to fans.

Headbangers India wishes the band members all the best with their other projects. As for the rest of you, the post for humor-metal band is now currently vacant. Think you can give it a shot?
