This is no ordinary Pink Floyd tribute, and if you haven’t got that from the title alone… well, that’s what we’re here for! Bevar Sea and Shepherd (both from Bangalore) along with a few other artists from the music scene here will bring you a tribute to the Syd Barrett era in Pink Floyd as part of their Time Capsule Month.
Click here for details on Counter Culture’s Time Capsule month of Tributes.
This series of tributes kicks off with stoner/ doom metallers Bevar Sea and Shepherd getting together with some other “special guests” for some metal versions of Pink Floyd (or so we’re guessing).
When: 11th August
Time: 8PM onwards
Free entry*
Where: Obviously at Counter Culture, Whitefield, Bangalore (map)
Line-up:
Shepherd: Formed by Deepak Raghu (from Dying Embrace, Bevar Sea and many others) and his friends, Shepherd play a noisy, tuned down, slow sludgy music that is one of a kind in the music scene.
Ganesh Krishnaswamy, Ananth Menon & Co: The old blues/psych tag team from Parachute XVI, Ganesh (also fronts Bevar Sea) and Ananth Menon (also from Galeej Gurus) get back together for this tribute gig for the first time since disbanding, and they’re joined by Deepak on drums, and a few other friends.
Anand Vijayasimha: The ex-frontman of the psych/post-rock prodigies Drones from the Turbine will be performing a solo acoustic set featuring songs from Syd’s solo output.
Bevar Sea: Bangalore-based stoner doom metal quintet Bevar Sea has been functional since 2010. Without doubt, they are the grooviest, gloomiest band in town who will riff it up with a one-time only set they’ve worked on for this special occasion.
We’re going to see a whole new side to Floyd on 11th August 2012. And with the gig scene being so dry at the moment, we’d highly recommend that you be there! It’s free entry anyway!
