1833 AD is a black metal band from New Delhi, formed in 2004. Their sound pairs extreme tremolo-picked riffing with melodic hooks and solos, and their lyrics lean on Indian mythology rather than the genre’s usual themes.
After the End of Time EP (2010), the band released the concept album My Dark Symphony (2012), a three-chapter record built around Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The band wound down in 2019 after members moved to different cities, and in 2022 guitarist Rahul Mehalwal restarted 1833 AD, of which he is the sole current member.
