Acrid Semblance, from New Delhi, is often cited as India’s first melodic death metal band. Formed in 2001, they released the Soul Corrosion EP in 2003 and the debut album From the Oblivion in 2006, pairing speed and melody with keyboard textures.
After a brief split in 2010 and a longer breakup that began in March 2015, founder Anubhav Misra announced the band’s return in November 2024. The comeback album Land of Cowards followed on 20 March 2025.
