Bhayanak Maut – the name comes from a Ramsay Brothers B-grade horror film and translates to ‘terrible death’ – is a Mumbai metal band formed in 2003. What started as a joke band turned serious when they reached the finals of a competition in Chennai, and they went on to become one of the defining Indian metal acts of their generation.

The self-titled 2009 album was Headbangers India’s Album of the Year, and the song ‘Unleashed’ made it to the soundtrack of the Bollywood film Shaitan (2011). Second album Man arrived in 2014. After a five-year gap the band returned in 2019 with new vocalist Aman Virdi, and singles have followed steadily since – including ‘Severance’ and ‘Apoptosis’ in 2026.
