Bhoomi is a heavy metal band from Bangalore, formed in April 2002 with the aim of playing original music in a cover-dominated scene. Their old-school sound drew on Iron Maiden, early Metallica, early Megadeth, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath.
The band had a dream start, winning the Strawberry Fields competition at National Law School in 2002 as the first college band to reach the finals with an all-original set. They went on to headline more than forty college festivals, recorded a debut album with producer Neil Kernon (Nevermore) in 2009, and remained live regulars into 2014. Members later formed the alt-rock band Peepal Tree.
