Blood Covenant is an extreme metal band from Chennai, formed in September 2005 by vocalist Eddie Prithviraj, a foundational figure in the city’s metal scene whom The Hindu has called the godfather of Chennai metal. The band coined its own tag, ‘white extreme metal’ – a blend of death, grind and thrash metal with lyrics drawn from the New Testament – and was among the pioneers of extreme metal in South India.

Most active between 2005 and 2009, the band played the June Rock Out festival in 2009 and the Opeth tribute concert in Chennai the same year, and supported UK band Cypher 16 in Chennai in September 2011. No official releases are documented; a debut album was reported to be in the works around 2011 but never surfaced. The band’s current status is unverified.
