Dying Embrace is a death/doom metal band from Bangalore and one of India’s oldest extreme metal bands, formed in 1991 as Misanthrope and renamed in 1996 when Vikram Bhat took over as frontman alongside founding guitarist Jimmy Palkhivala. Drawing on Black Sabbath, Autopsy, Candlemass, Trouble and early Paradise Lost, the band self-released the Serenades of Depravity mini-album and the Grotesque EP on cassette in the late 1990s. After going quiet in 2002, the band returned in 2011, performing at Bangalore Open Air 2012 and co-headlining Echoes from Beneath II with Kryptos in 2013, and released the single ‘Ascendance of Namtar’ (2013) and the split Through Corridors of Dead Centuries (2014). Metal Archives lists the band’s run as ending in 2023, yet also lists live members for 2024 shows; no breakup statement was found in checked sources, and the band’s current status is unverified.
