RAINBURN announce third album ‘thirty-seven’

October 14, 2026 · Subhramani

Bangalore progressive rock trio Rainburn will release their third album, thirty-seven, on 4th November 2026. The nine-track concept album grew out of frontman Vats Iyengar’s near-death experience while stranded at sea. The band have released a single and video for ‘confessions’, the seventh song on the record.

There is a change in sound this time around, with industrial rhythms, synths and samples alongside the band’s progressive rock arrangements. Commenting on the album, Iyengar says, “The sonic template for this record was very different from what we’ve had in the past – we were referencing bands like Depeche Mode, Rammstein and Nine Inch Nails far more than bands that are usually classified as prog.”

The industrial sounds represent human invention, set against bare acoustic guitar representing nature. The songs follow the protagonist through questions of faith, love and mortality, with musical themes returning across the album. It was written as one continuous piece rather than nine separate songs.

thirty-seven follows 2023’s Vignettes. It was recorded at Octavium Music Academy in Bangalore, mixed by drummer Neilroy Miranda and mastered by Thomas Cassell at Sage Audio in Chicago.

The tracklist is: ‘capsize’, ‘god’, ‘desolation’, ‘defy’, ‘kings’, ‘you’, ‘confessions’, ‘nearer’ and ‘hereafter’.
