Scribe releases video for “Dum hai to aage aah!”

Scribe-vidAfter their first hit- the love song to Pav Bhaji, the guys from Mumbai based Scribe are back with what seems to be their second hit from ‘Mark of Teja’.

This one is the official music video for the single “Dum Hai To Aage Aah!”

“Dum Hai To Aage Aah!” is a great track and the video is interesting too, though it’s unconventional for a metal band. It’s a no-pretense and no-glamour sort of video, and one that will hold your attention for the 3-odd minutes. This one should go up on TV channels soon, so we’ll keep you updated.

BITS Pilani (Goa) presents Sea Rock 2010

bitsgoaPrepare yourselves for one of India’s biggest semi-pro band competitions. Sea Rock, the rock competition organized as a part of ‘Waves’, the cultural festival of BITS- Pilani, is back for the 2010 version.

Sea Rock is scheduled to take place between the 14th and the 16th of October at the Goa campus ( \m/ ). Prizes worth up to 1 lakh INR and a prospective recording deal have been offered to the winners of the competition.

If you want your band to participate, here’s what you have to do. To register, bands must mail the following to searock@bits-waves.org before 12AM, September 12, 2010:

-At least one track recording. Original compositions will be appreciated. Note that this is the sole criteria for elimination.
-A well-formatted, formally written document in PDF format, with:
i. The names and ages of the band members.
ii. Their roles in the band.
iii. Contact details: Addresses, contact numbers, email IDs.
iv. A short description of the band, detailing their history, influences and achievements.

Slayer, Testament gig cancelled

slayer‘Rock in India’ which was scheduled for October 2010, and which was meant to feature Slayer and Testament, has now been cancelled due to certain reasons we aren’t aware of as yet.
Though this would come as a major disappointment to all metalheads, there’s still a ray of hope. Great Indian Rock has confirmed that TesseracT and Enslaved will headline their festival later this year. And with rumors about a whole array of other bands coming down to India, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Demonstealer Records to release Dimmu Borgir’s latest album ‘Abrahadabra’ in India

DimmuDemonstealer Records is all set to release the kings of black metal Dimmu Borgir’s latest album Abrahadabra in India on October 15th 2010. The album will be released in jewel case format and will come with a special poster and sticker. DSR will also be releasing an official Dimmu Borgir t-shirt in India as well.

Abrahadabra is the band’s ninth studio album and features an ensemble orchestra (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra), as well as the Schola Cantorum choir. ‘Abrahadabra’, loosely translated as “I will create as I speak”, was created by author Aleister Crowley in his work, Liber AL vel Legis, or The Book of the Law. This album is the second in the band’s repertoire to deviate from the traditional three-word title. The album cover artwork was designed by Joachim Luetke who previously worked on the bands two albums ‘Death Cult Armageddon’ and ‘In Sorte Diaboli’.

The band released their 1st single from the album titled ‘Gateways’ on their Myspace page (www.myspace.com/dimmuborgir)

Dimmu Borgir recently revealed the tracklist & cover art for the album.

Devoid album artwork and tracklist unveiled

Mumbai thrash metallers ‘Devoid’ who recently signed to Demonstealer Records have revealed the cover artwork and tracklist for their debut album ‘A God’s Lie’.

Capital Metal-New Delhi heavy metal scene documentary out now

Mohammed Kabeer, an enterprising New Delhi resident, has filmed a documentary titled Capital Metal. This documentary talks about the heavy metal scene in New Delhi, its current situation and where it will be in the future. It features interviews with bands like Hydrodjent, IIIrd Sovereign and Gates of Assault. The film can be purchased from CDRack here. Incidentally, this film was his final project submission for a film course that he was taking.

Albatross reveal cover art and track list

Horror metal band ‘Albatross’ from Mumbai who recently signed to Demonstealer Records have revealed the cover artwork and tracklist for their debut EP ‘Dinner Is You’.

‘Dinner is You’ is a sick, sadistic tale of cannibalism and the Kuru disease, which is a nervous system disorder afflicting cannibals, making them laugh uncontrollably. Each song is a spine-chilling story told through skull crushing metal.

The album has been mastered by Grammy nominated guitarist *Andy LaRocque* from King Diamond/Death.

IRMP3 celebrates 2nd birthday with ‘Indiean’

IndieanThis August, our friends at Indian Rock Mp3 complete two years of supporting Indian independent music. And what better way to celebrate this event than by releasing a compilation CD, featuring some of the current biggies in the Indian rock and metal industry!

Called ‘Indiean’ (Yeah, Indie + Indian), the compilation features all the bands that were featured under their ‘Artist of the Month’ section through the last year.

These bands include: Dark Horizon, The Circus, Lucid Recess, Blakc, Kryptos, Sledge, Demonic Resurrection, Devoid, IAFWAY, Artillerie, and Scribe.The tentative date of release is the 9th of August. And guess what, the album will also be up for free download!
