Randy Blythe has an ’emotional problem’ says Psychologist

It’s been close to two years since the 19 year old fan died at the Lamb of God gig in Prague, and the trial is still on. As metal fans around the world sit tense for band frontman Randy Blythe, who was accussed of manslaughter, the trial continues, and recently took a new turn. Court-appointed criminal psychologist, Tereza Soukupova said that Blythe demonstrated problems controlling his emotions. She said these features “were not deep” and that he was not mentally ill, but that he doesn’t take enough responsibility for his own actions, sometimes “crossing social norms.” She pointed to when Blythe was fined for speeding and urinating in public when he was younger. Defense appointed criminal psychiatrist Alena Gayova said Blythe didn’t display any permanent “socially promiscuous” behavioral patterns. Even when in jail, when aggressive/anti-social behavior might be understandable, Gayova said Blythe showed normal results. She added he was not “overly aggressive.” Eye witness Anna Rozsivalova who stood close to the stage that night, described the audience as being crazy. She said victim Daniel N. attempted to climb the barrier to get onto the stage, but as he was pulling himself up, Blythe lifted him by the shoulders and pushed him off with two hands, from the front. She said Daniel N. fell backwards, and people moved away to avoid being hit. The second eye witness, Jan Moravec, supposedly didn’t say much at all.Third witness security guard Jan Cernansky, who was not in the concert hall, but at the door, said he saw Daniel N. walking out with 2 other people, one of whom told him Daniel N. had fallen from the stage. They said they needed to go out for fresh air. Cernansky said an ambulance arrived 5-10 minutes later. Here’s a news clip from one of the previous sittings of the trial, to give you a clearer idea about what exactly happened: A three judge panel in the Czech Republic said it could deliver a verdict by tomorrow in the manslaughter trial of Richmond rocker Randy Blythe. Though it is sad that the 19 year old Daniel N. lost his life after that gig, a true metalhead would know how crazy concerts can get, and that it is wrong to convict Randy for doing what he did. Headbangers India hopes for the best for Randy, and we really wish the next time we bring news your way, it’s going to be something to rejoice about. Let’s keep our fingers crossed, and hope that Randy gets back on stage, as soon as possible, and does what he does best. News source: http://wtvr.com/

The return of Blood & Iron

Do you remember one of India’s only power metal bands a few years ago from Chennai? After many years of silence since their 2008 release ‘Dynamite World’ and a major line-up overhaul, the band is now back with their third full-length album ‘Voices of Eternity’. The band revealed their cover artwork earlier today, designed by Ishaan Kumar of Third I Designs (who is also the author of this update). Fans of heavy/power metal, this is one release you would not want to miss. Stay tuned for more updates regarding this new album: blood and iron Voices of Eternity

Carcass to release new album

Legendary grinders Carcass have announced their first album in 17 years. In an interview with Terrorizer magazine with Bill Steer and Jeff Walker it was revealed that they have indeed written a  new album and are going to release it. The album is titled Surgical Steel and has the following tracklist
  • The Master Butcher’s Apron
  • The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills
  • A Congealed Clot Of Blood
  • A Wraith In The Apparatus
  • 316l Grade Surgical Steel
  • Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System
  • Captive Bolt Pistol
  • Intensive Battery Brooding
  • None Compliance To Astm F899-12 Standard
  • Mount Of Execution
  • 1985/Thrasher’s Abattoir
  • Unfit For Human Consumption
  • Zochrot
  • Livestock Marketplace
Guitarist Bill Steer stated: “I found myself playing riffs that sounded like Carcass. This was after the band had finished the whole reunion cycle of shows and festivals. So officially I would have been playing with other bands and stuff, but for some reason whenever I picked up a guitar at home I was coming up with riffs that sounded like Carcass. I got on the phone to Jeff [Walker, bass/vocals] and said, ‘We could have a crack at writing a couple of tunes and seeing if they’re strong enough and take it from there’. We also agreed, if it didn’t sound like Carcass or have that kind of vibe to it, we would just drop it. So that was the thing, we got together and started working on some stuff and just immediately got the excitement back very quickly.” “It definitely sounds like Carcass. I think we just generally by accident captured the flavor of past music that we have done and you can’t help but push it forward. We have really been creative and when you are looking at things like guitar harmonies, it’s way more adventurous on this record. It’s not just parallel harmony like we did in the past, things branch off in different directions. A lot of what is happening now is based on rhythms rather than actual riffs. We were discussing this a lot during record sessions about how the riff is almost dying or dead already. People spend a lot of time chugging on the bottom string [but] that’s a rhythm it’s not a riff – we can’t write a song, never mind an album, without it being choc-full of riffs.” Carcass who shook the foundations of metal and influenced several genres of metal are one of the biggest bands in history and their comeback is much awaited. With unmatched musical prowess and mastery at song writing, this is indeed a milestone for metal. It’s time to wake up and smell the Carcass!

Kryptos complete 15 years, announce massive Europe tour, including Wacken Open Air 2013

860113_10152592768100015_1455438839_o   This was an announcement posted by Indian heavy/thrash metal band Kryptos on 27th February 2013 on various social media pages:
KRYPTOS – XV YEARS OF METALPRESS RELEASE – BANGALORE 27TH FEB 2013A decade and a half. Who would have thought it would get this far? This year Kryptos completes its fifteenth year of existence and there are absolutely no signs of slowing down. 1998 now seems like a long time ago, probably had some pterodactyls flying about as well but we’ve weathered every shit storm that’s come our way since then and here we are in 2013, fatter, uglier and with most of our hair intact but still piling on the leather in unholy temperatures all around the country and bringing our metal to the masses. To mark this monumental feat we’re pulling out all the stops this year and going for the jugular. This May we will put on a mammoth gig to celebrate the last 15 years that will see us play material from all our albums to date as well as a special set with some of our good friends and booze hounds from Bangalore and elsewhere. It’s going to be an epic night of unadulterated metal where we will bang heads and raise the devil horns with our long time supporters and metal brothers. It doesn’t end there though. In July we hit Europe once again and return to magnificent Germany for a month long festival tour that will see us play at the In Flammen Open Air once again, followed by the killer Ragnarock Open Air as well as a one off festival appearance in Norway and Aschaffenburg with more dates to be added in the coming months. But the big daddy of them all will be our very first appearance at Wacken Open Air 2013. When we started this band we didn’t think we’d even get past the bedroom we practiced in but fifteen years later we’re going to be playing at the biggest metal festival on the planet in front of tens of thousands of people alongside many of the bands we grew up listening to. Surreal doesn’t even begin to describe it. So here’s to the last fifteen years and the next fifteen and beyond. Major thanks and cheers to everyone who supported us and still support us and a huge round of cheers to our manager Salman for his relentless work ethic behind the scenes, Miriam & Enno for all her fantastic support and our label AFM Records Germany for their belief in us. We’ve outlasted every ‘flavor of the month’ douchebag that put us down or said we were ‘irrelevant’ and would never last. Well we’re still standing with a cigarette in our hands and a middle finger in your face. Rock hard, Ride free \m/ Cheers fuckers!KRYPTOS COILS AROUND EUROPE TOUR 20136TH July 2013 In-Flammen Open Air, Germany 13th July 2013 Open Air festival, Germany (TBC) 27th July 2013 Ragnarock Open Air, Germany 1st – 3rd August 2013 Wacken Open Air, Germany 9th August 2013 Aalesund, Norway 10th August 2013 Sam’s 15th Anniversary Festival, Aschaffenburg, More dates to be announced Soon!!

Machine Head bass player Adam Duce quits

After Dave Lombardo’s unceremonious exit from Slayer, Machine Head bass player Adam Duce has left his band, albeit on more amicable grounds. This was the official statement from the band’s website:
Machine Head and bassist Adam Duce have parted ways. The split is amicable, and Machine Head would like to wish Adam the best with his current and future endeavors. The band will continue on for the time being as a three-piece and have begun the writing process for their follow-up to 2011’s “Unto The Locust”. A late 2013 release is projected.

Dave Lombardo asked to leave Slayer?

Earlier today, this message was posted publicly by the official Facebook page of Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo:
Statement From Dave Lombardo Regarding Slayer Australian Tour 2013
I want to personally apologize to all of our fans in Australia who have bought tickets for the tour expecting to see me in my usual place on the drums. So that you all know the truth, as of the end of the business day on February 14th, I was notified that I would not be drumming for the tour in Australia. I’m saddened, and to be honest I am shocked by the situation. Last year, I discovered 90% of Slayer’s tour income was being deducted as expenses including the professional fees paid to management, costing the band millions of dollars and leaving 10% or less to split amongst the four of us. In my opinion, this is not the way a band’s business should operate. I tried rectifying it by letting my band mates know, and Tom and I hired auditors to figure out what happened, but I was denied access to detailed information and the necessary back up documents. I spent the Christmas and New Year holidays realizing I had toured all over the world in 2012, but yet, had not been paid (except a small advance) or provided a proper accounting for a full year’s sweat and blood. On top of this, I was told that I would not be paid until I signed a long form contract which gave me no written assurance of how much or on what basis management would deduct commissions, nor did it provide me access to the financial budgets or records for review. It also forbade me to do interviews or make statements having to do with the band, in effect a gagging order. Last Monday, I sat down with Kerry and Tom to rehearse for Australia and to propose a new business model that I felt was the best way forward for Slayer to confidently protect itself so we could do what we do best . . . play for the fans. Kerry made it clear he wasn’t interested in making changes and said if I wanted to argue the point, he would find another drummer. On Thursday, I arrived at rehearsals at 1 pm as scheduled, but Kerry did not show. Rather, at 6:24 pm I received an email from the lawyers saying I was being replaced for the Australian dates. I remain hopeful that we can resolve our issues. But once again, I sincerely apologize to all of our fans in Australia who spent their money expecting to see the 3 of us original Slayer members. I look forward to seeing you in the future. Sincerely, Dave Lombardo
