It seems like India is a new favorite destination for the big guns of metal. Especially for the thrash bands. After Kreator, Slayer and Megadeth, not to forget Metallica last October, now the legendary Testament are set to headline Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Bangalore on the 15th of December along with Periphery.
The gig is on the same day as the Indian Metal Festival which features Gojira and Cerebral Bore along with a host of other bands. This is surely gonna leave the fans in a pickle, especially fans of both the headliners. But that does little to take the focus away from the fact that one of the most celebrated and anticipated thrash bands of all time will take the stage and unleash the dark roots of earth.
Finnish metal greats Children of Bodom, who will headline the Kingfisher Premium The Great Indian Octoberfest, have arrived in Bangalore. In their interaction with the press, the band expressed their eagerness to play in India. Frontman Alexi Wildchild Laiho spoke to Headbangers India and said that though he wasn’t too aware of the huge metal following in the country, he’d always been keen to play here. He also hinted that some of their older stuff might be on the setlist and fans could look toward to that.
Longer interview coming up after the show, so watch this space for more. Don’t forget to catch Alexi and the guys from Children of Bodom live at Jayamahal Palace at Kingfisher Premium The Great Indian Octoberfest 2012.
Bangalore’s 5 piece stoner/doom crew are all set to launch their debut album this October. The gig, set on the eve of Rock in India featuring Slayer will happen at Counter Culture in the vastlands of east Bangalore. Supported by old timers Kryptos, who also had a successful album launch this year, with their album getting the acclaim in Europe and the new boys of sludge – Shepherd.
Bevar Sea’s much awaited debut has a lot going into it, especially for the fans of stoner rock/doom and pretty much anyone else with an open ear for music. The band promises to bring to the fans a lot of merchandise, stay in touch with their page for more updates, as they come:

The gig, as mentioned looks to be a scintillating one as Bevar Sea’s own gig factory The Mighty Riff has proven to be successful, giving the fans what they really pay for.
Megadeth have confirmed via their official twitter account that they are going to play at the Bacardi NH7 weekender in Delhi on October 14th, 2012. Supporting them will be Indian metal acts such as Bhayanak Maut, Scribe, Undying Inc, Solstice Coil and Delhi Metal Project. More information can be found at http://nh7.in/weekender/ncr/
French progressive-metal outfit Gojira are set to headline the Indian Metal Festival on December 15, Bangalore. Although the venue hasn’t been finalized yet, it is most likely that it shall be the same as that for the LoG gig, i.e. Clark Exotica.

Closer to home, the festival also features Mumbai’s slam grinders Gutslit and Agnostic (death metal) from Guwahati.
