Judas Priest announces retirement

Judas PriestHeavy metal legends- Judas Priest, are wrapping up their career in the music industry and are preparing to hit the road for the band’s last ever world tour next year. Priest formed back in 1969 and since then, have sold 40 million albums and become one of the genre’s biggest and most respected acts. They announced their retirement on their official website through a statement which reads: “After storming the world for nearly 40 years and taking its very special brand of heavy metal to all four corners of the planet, Judas Priest has announced plans to embark on a final world tour. However, the mighty Priest will certainly be going out strong as they rock the planet starting in 2011 on the massive Epitaph tour – hitting all the major cities throughout the world they will be playing the songs that helped make the name Judas Priest synonymous with heavy metal!” Judas Priest will kick off their farewell trek at the Sweden Rock Festival in June. And since this will be probably the only chance for a lot of us to get to watch them live, let’s cross our fingers and hope that the band makes a stop in India.

Announcing the Resonate Music Award 2010

Resonate awardFollowing the success of the Resonate Music Award 2009, the launch of the 2010 award has been announced with some significant changes and new partnerships. In line with the theme announced last year, the award aims to be a significant contribution towards an artist or band’s dream of releasing an album of international quality by opening the doors to recognition in the national and international music scene. With the help of many established music gurus covering many genres across India, the award will contribute not only towards the relieving some of the financial stress, but also towards guiding the artists to a successful music career. In a change from last year’s conditions, the 2010 award pledges to award INR 50,000 to the winner to be spent on something tangible that helps the artist and eventually results in the release of professionally recorded material. The judging panel will pay special scrutiny to the artist’s proposal and select the winner based on a combination of the quality of demo and the artist’s vision for their careers and proposal for the award’s funds. Deepak, the founder of The Resonate Music Award, and former frontman of Bangalore act Shrapnel says “We were blown away with the response and quality of the entries we received from all over India last year. We are proud to say that Gowri as well as Guillotine and Dark Horizon have recorded some quality music in the studio and we are proud to be associated with them. This year we are opening up the prize to be used for almost anything provided it is an intelligent stepping-stone to the release of the artist’s music. We’ve made struck some important partnerships and we will continue making announcements throughout the course of the award – at the end of the day we are constantly seeking avenues to help the Indian independent artist” Joining the judging panel this year will be Bruce Lee Mani from Thermal and A Quarter. Continuing on from last year are also Nolan Lewis (Kryptos), Sahil Makhija (Demonic Resurrection), and Chris Avinash (Angeldust). Prasad Bhat (Extinct Reflections, Inviktus) of Graphicurry has agreed to sit down with the winning artist and assist forming/improving the artist’s brand and online identity. Myopusradio.com joins as a media partner, and associations continue with Rolling Stone Magazine, Furtados, RadioVerve and Netbramha Studios. Entries for the 2010 Resonate Award are now open and close on the 20th of December 2010 with the winner being announced shortly after. Six Inch Nails Records signs Chain Reaction (Poland)

Chain Reaction SINSix Inch Nails Records signs Polish Modern Metal band – Chain Reaction for the Asian release of their 2nd full-length album titled ‘Cutthroat’ Melodies. Here’s something about Chain Reaction- Chain Reaction was formed in the end of 2002 as a band of friends playing together for fun. Two years later, at the moment when the band’s style was maturing, it was joined by Barton who took over the lead singer’s position. In 2006 CR’s new tracks were recorded as the “id” Promo and met with great reception. Thanks to “id” Chain Reaction gained huge positive feedback in Poland and played more than fifty gigs around the country but, due to the length of the album, remained unsigned. The band kept on working hard and in the end of 2007 recorded their first LP album entilted “Vicious Circle”. They spent the next year playing loads of gigs and, finally, signed their first record deal with a new Italian label, Kolony Records. “Vicious Circle” was out in stores around Europe in March, 2009 and gained great reviews, both in press and on the internet. This only strengthened the band’s belief that what they have created was good and gave them a good vibe, needed at that time, as they were finishing the writing of their second album. “Cutthroat Melodies”, Chain Reaction’s second LP was recorded in the last months of 2009 and is to be released in May 2010, once again by Kolony Records. Even before its release “Cutthroat Melodies” proves to be the band’s biggest achievement as “Twinge”, the first track from the album already won the charts for Metal channel on Ourstage.com and is included on “Kill City Vol.22” compilation released by 272Records in Hollywood. Chain Reaction was signed by Six Inch Nails Records in November 2010 for the Asian release of “Cutthroat Melodies” scheduled for December 2010. We are very happy and proud that another label noticed the potential in us, and that we will be able to get our music to more people. We really hope they like it!
