Slayer, Testament gig cancelled

slayer‘Rock in India’ which was scheduled for October 2010, and which was meant to feature Slayer and Testament, has now been cancelled due to certain reasons we aren’t aware of as yet.
Though this would come as a major disappointment to all metalheads, there’s still a ray of hope. Great Indian Rock has confirmed that TesseracT and Enslaved will headline their festival later this year. And with rumors about a whole array of other bands coming down to India, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Demonstealer Records to release Dimmu Borgir’s latest album ‘Abrahadabra’ in India

DimmuDemonstealer Records is all set to release the kings of black metal Dimmu Borgir’s latest album Abrahadabra in India on October 15th 2010. The album will be released in jewel case format and will come with a special poster and sticker. DSR will also be releasing an official Dimmu Borgir t-shirt in India as well. Abrahadabra is the band’s ninth studio album and features an ensemble orchestra (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra), as well as the Schola Cantorum choir. ‘Abrahadabra’, loosely translated as “I will create as I speak”, was created by author Aleister Crowley in his work, Liber AL vel Legis, or The Book of the Law. This album is the second in the band’s repertoire to deviate from the traditional three-word title. The album cover artwork was designed by Joachim Luetke who previously worked on the bands two albums ‘Death Cult Armageddon’ and ‘In Sorte Diaboli’. The band released their 1st single from the album titled ‘Gateways’ on their Myspace page (www.myspace.com/dimmuborgir) Dimmu Borgir recently revealed the tracklist & cover art for the album. Kamelot upload medley of songs from upcoming album

American power metal giants Kamelot have uploaded a medley of songs on their Myspace page. This medley consists of track snippets from their upcoming full-length release Poetry for the Poisoned, scheduled for release on September 10th 2010. The album features a few guest performances which include Firewind/Ozzy Osbourne guitar player Gus G and the return of Epica’s Simone Simons on vocals. The album will be released by Earl Music/Edel Music and will also be released in a special DVD twin release where the DVD will contain lots of bonus material. The track listing is as follows: 1. New Dimmu Borgir single ‘Gateways’ now streaming

An update from the Dimmu Borgir camp: The band released their latest single titled Gateways for streaming on August 27th 2010. It can be heard on YouTube and their Myspace page here. It features heavy orchestration and a female voice that is rumoured to actually be that of ICS Vortex but with an extreme pitch increase. Vortex, as is common knowledge now is no longer part of the band and was kicked out along with keyboard player Mustis. This song will obviously be featured on their upcoming album ‘Abrahadabra’, scheduled for release in September/October.

Devoid album artwork and tracklist unveiled

Capital Metal-New Delhi heavy metal scene documentary out now

Mohammed Kabeer, an enterprising New Delhi resident, has filmed a documentary titled Capital Metal. This documentary talks about the heavy metal scene in New Delhi, its current situation and where it will be in the future. It features interviews with bands like Hydrodjent, IIIrd Sovereign and Gates of Assault. The film can be purchased from CDRack here. Incidentally, this film was his final project submission for a film course that he was taking.

Albatross reveal cover art and track list

Horror metal band ‘Albatross’ from Mumbai who recently signed to Demonstealer Records have revealed the cover artwork and tracklist for their debut EP ‘Dinner Is You’. ‘Dinner is You’ is a sick, sadistic tale of cannibalism and the Kuru disease, which is a nervous system disorder afflicting cannibals, making them laugh uncontrollably.
