Plague Throat wins Wacken Metal Battle (India)

Shillong-based death metal band Plague Throat has just been declared the winner of Wacken Metal Battle (India). The final leg of the competition is currently taking place at Vapour, Bangalore. Other bands competing were Theorized, Orion, Perpetual Void and Noize Akademi. Apart from the bands in the competition, the gig features performances by Bevar Sea, The Down Troddence, Eccentric Pendulum, Kryptos and is being headlined by Suidakra.

For those of you who didn’t know this already, Eccentric Pendulum represented India at the Wacken Metal Battle at W:O:A in Germany this August (2011) and were very well received by their international audience.

‘Winding the Optics’ is their first full length album, and a follow-up to their EP ‘Sculptor of Negative Emotions’. The album contains over 45 minutes of progressive metal written over a span of 2 years. It promises to be big. Eccentric Pendulum win Wacken Metal Battle

Finally after a nationwide competition and a grand finale in Bangalore where there were only four bands to choose from,Eccentric Pendulum come out victorious and are headed to Germany to play at one of the biggest metal fests in the world. They however have tons of of saving up to do to get there haha. I wish them all the very best. A big hearty congratulations to the boys Arun,Arjun,Vibhas,Faheem and Nikhil,and founding member and long time guitarist Ashish too. Go and show the world what Indian metal is about!

Shortlisted bands for Wacken Metal Battle India announced!

Metal Battle IndiaOut of the 96-odd entries received, the 16 shortlisted bands for the Wacken Metal Battle India have finally been announced.

These four bands have been selected from each of the four zones to compete in the first round of performances at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Guwahati starting the 7th of November. Post this, 2 bands will be selected from each of the four zones and will play the National finals in Bangalore on the 12th of December, 2010. The band that wins the National Finals will represent India at the Wacken Metal Battle in Germany in August 2011.

Wacken Metal Battle India- Registrations open!

WOA BattleIndia now becomes the 27th Country in the world to participate in the Wacken Open Air Metal Battle, whose international finals are scheduled for 4th to 6th August 2011. And to get your band to play at one of the world’s biggest metal festivals- Wacken Open Air, and also stand a chance to win a record deal, go ahead and register for Metal Battle India 2011!
Visit www.myopusradio.com and register your band here before the 31st of October 2010. All you have to do is fill out a form on the website with basic details about your band, along with a MySpace/ Reverbnation link.
Four bands will be selected from each of the four zones based on their profiles, and they will get a chance to play live at the zonal semi-finals on these dates, at these venues:
North Zone- Delhi- Double Decker- 7th November
West Zone- Mumbai- B69 Bajao- 21st November
South Zone- Bangalore- Zero G- 11th December
East Zone- Delhi- T.B.A
Bands that qualify at this stage will move on to the National finals and play in Bangalore on the 12th of December, 2010. Finally, the winner of Metal Battle India will head to Germany in 2011 and play on the grand stage alongside many other international metal bands!
